Our great man quoted this piece by Marianne Williamson in his inaugural address-such powerful words which so beautifully illustrate the arc of his life, the ability to overcome internal fears and achieve success, even when the path forward is difficult. Happy birthday Mr M! 💟
Vocalise LIFE
Group therapy can seem like a daunting prospect when it seems like you’ll be sharing your uber-confidential stuff with others. Let alone ‘Mental Health’ or Bipolar stuff! But imagine a group where you can invite your most trusted and loved ‘person’ (friend or family) to some of the sessions, so they can learn how to help and support you. A group with ‘sponsors’ who support you outside of sessions with anything you’re battling with.
And you know, really good group therapy can be safe, secure, confidential, insightful-and so comforting. Because you find YOUR tribe-people who are like you, who’ve gone through the same issues you have, who resonate with you-and know how to support and love you.
Join this ‘bootcamp’ and find out what it’s like to experience true support - and find new life in the process. Reach me on info@vocaliselife.co.za or vocaliseclaire@gmail.com for more info…

TACKLING BIPOLAR ‘DISORDER’ WITH GROUP THERAPY
What if we looked at groupwork to actually treat mental health challenges, like Bipolar, for instance? The thing about group therapy is - that for the actual treatment of mental health issues, it’s practically unknown. In rehab situations, it’s there; in support groups for some mental health or other issues, we have amazing groupwork- to really help people with similar issues lean on, and be supported by, their peers.
But what if we looked at groupwork to actually treat a mental health issue like Bipolar? Involve a group of ‘patients’, AND their loved ones/significant others, where possible? For both to fully understand the deep-seated behaviours that drive Bipolar; to learn how to self-manage the symptoms, even clear them; to be able to intervene where hype, anxiety, anger, distraction or depression seem to be gaining the advantage; and in the process, improve and deepen the close family or friend relationships that are so often threatened by this ‘illness’.
Groupwork is invaluable when people with similar issues can both learn and heal together-and ‘come out’ of the loneliness and the ‘I am SO different’ mentality that tough mental health issues can create.
We’re going to be talking (and walking!) group therapy along these lines for a while now-so watch out for my next video, dropping tomorrow!

TESTIMONIAL
If you read yesterday’s post, you would have understood what the ‘Hyper-Flat syndrome is (in brief!). By treating it holistically, even in its more severe form which can be Bipolar ‘disorder’, great results can be obtained.
This is a testimonial from my client, post therapy:
“After working with Claire for a year, my intense need to control EVERYTHING and operate from an irrational fear of failure, diminished. As did my anxiety and panic attacks. I really benefitted from using the tools she gave in session to slow my system down-to calm anxiety and also get myself out of panic attacks. Long term, using specific tools repeatedly, I found I had far fewer attacks.
My binge-eating, and sugar and caffeine cravings, which helped me escape my constant feelings of fear and failure, improved hugely, as did my need to watch TV for hours, to fritter time away, escape from life, and avoid just about everything! Releasing behaviour patterns really got to the source of all these symptoms-and what also helped was learning to release my emotions instead of bottling them up; I didn’t know how to deal with the pressure I felt inside, and that’s become so much better.” Client 2021
